Is GoToGate Legit? Short Answer – book at your own risk!
As a frequent traveller and content writer, I share hotel, restaurant and airline reviews on my websites and whether good or bad, I’ll always share about my experiences. So here is my review of GoToGate:
For those who don’t know, Gotogate is a travel booking website that allows users to search and book flights, hotels, and rental cars. It is an online travel agency that offers a wide range of travel services to its customers. GoToGate is owned by Etraveli Group, one of the largest flight-centric online travel agencies in Europe. They also own MyTrip, Travelstart and Flight Network and many more.
I recently booked flights through GoToGate and I arrived at the airport and was told my booking doesn’t exist.
I booked a flight on GoToGate and I arrived at the airport, only to be told that my booking doesn’t exist. I couldn’t understand what was going on as money was debited from my account, I immediately went on their website to try and find a number to call for help. I ended up chatting to a consultant and no help was received. I ended up booking and paying for another flight. 5 months later, GoToGate is still investigating the matter and no information or refund has been issued to me.
During this time, I have been researching ways to contact GoToGate (as they don’t have a support contact number) and you will be shocked about what I have uncovered. There are thousands of articles online and Facebook groups like Victims of GoToGate Support Group where people share stories about their ordeals and ask for advice on how to contact GoToGate. Some people have been waiting for months for a response. My only advice is that you should book with GoToGate at your own risk.
Is GoToGate Legit
Based on all the negative reviews I have read online, I would really think twice before booking. Booking directly from an airline website has some advantages over using a travel agency. Here are some reasons why you may prefer to book directly from an airline website:
- Better prices: Many airlines offer exclusive discounts and promotions to customers who book directly through their website. These discounts may not be available through third-party travel agencies.
- More flexibility: Booking directly through an airline website gives you more control over your itinerary. You can choose your seat, meal preferences, and add-ons such as extra baggage or priority boarding. You may also have more options for changing or cancelling your booking.
- Better customer service: Airlines have dedicated customer service teams that can assist you with any issues or questions about your booking. When booking through a travel agency, you may have to go through the agency to resolve any problems, which can be time-consuming and frustrating.
- Accurate information: When booking through an airline website, you can be sure that the information about your flight is accurate and up-to-date. With a travel agency, there may be a delay in receiving information or updates about your booking.
- Loyalty rewards: If you frequently fly with a specific airline, booking directly through their website can help you earn loyalty rewards such as frequent flyer miles or points towards upgrades or free flights.
However, there are also some advantages to using a travel agency for booking your travel. For example, a travel agency can provide a wider range of options for flights, hotels, and rental cars, and can often help you find better deals by comparing prices across different airlines and travel providers. A travel agency can also offer personalized recommendations and assistance with complex itineraries or special requests. Ultimately, the decision to book through an airline website or a travel agency will depend on your personal preferences, budget, and travel needs.
